@bascht@social.yakshed.org A normal USB-plug will get you 500 mA, if you short the 2 data pins in the middle you will get 1000 mA. Everything above that requires negotiation, as far as i know.

@bascht no that should work, but you will probably want a USB-cable and a USB-connector on your board, if you are designing it yourself. Otherwise there are USB to barrel plug cables.

@snaums interesting. the device (a led lamp that attaches to a mirror) currently comes with a barrel plug, but I would probably have to be lucky and find one that matches the diameter and polarity 🙃

@bascht above a mirror. Why not use a USB-power supply then if it's not meant to be mobile? Or one with a barrel plug xD

@snaums the mirror is stationery as heck, but it's in that one corner of the room where there's now power socket on either side of the wall - and I don't want to run a 5m extension cord across the room 😁

@bascht depends on the controller. I do have a powerbank that offers power without communicating with the device and one which does not.
